This Iced Tea Lemonade, commonly known as Arnold Palmer, is the perfect blend of two classic beverages. It combines the robust flavors of black tea with the tangy freshness of homemade lemonade.
Combine Sugar and Water: In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water. Use equal parts of sugar and water for a standard simple syrup. For a thicker syrup, known as rich simple syrup, use a 2:1 ratio of sugar to water.
Heat the Mixture: Place the saucepan over medium heat. Stir the mixture gently until the sugar has completely dissolved into the water. There’s no need to bring it to a boil; just heat it enough to dissolve the sugar, which should take a few minutes.
Cool the Syrup: Once the sugar is fully dissolved and the syrup is clear, remove the pan from the heat. Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature.
Make the Iced Tea Lemonade:
Prepare the Iced Tea: Place the tea bags in a heatproof pitcher. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags and steep for 5-7 minutes. Remove the tea bags and let the tea cool to room temperature.
Make the Lemonade: In a separate pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice and simple syrup. Stir well to combine.
Combine and Chill: Mix the iced tea and lemonade together in a large pitcher. Place the pitcher in the refrigerator and chill for at least 1-2 hours.
Serve: Fill glasses with ice cubes, pour the chilled Iced Tea Lemonade over the ice, and garnish with lemon slices and optional mint leaves.
Notes
You can adjust the sweetness by adding more or less simple syrup according to your taste.
